Electronic Keyboards

Many children start learning music at a young age, for their parents take place great emphasis on music education. People used to play the harpsichord or the pipe organ to study music. However, due to the invention of the electronic keyboards, more and more people accept the idea that we can use this great invention to study music. There are three kinds of electronic keyboards which are well-known and common today.

The most popular kind of electronic keyboard is the digital piano. Its appearance is like a traditional piano, namely eighty-eight keys and three pedals. Many piano students who live in an apartment like to buy it because they can control its volume. For instance, they can practice playing the digital piano by a headphone in early morning or at midnight, and it won’t drive their families or neighbors crazy. Moreover, they can save money and the apartment’s spaces, for it is cheaper and smaller compared with a real piano, and it doesn’t require tuning.

The second kind of electronic keyboard is the synthesizer. If we only take the sixty-four keys from the piano and add control modes, these keys and modes will be like a synthesizer. It is able to imitate thousands of instruments such as guitar, strings, and drums in high quality, so a lot keyboardists like to use it in a band. Another example of the synthesizer is that some composers use it to make music demos before the orchestra begins rehearsing.

The third kind of electronic keyboard is the electone. It has three keyboards, namely a pedalboard, which is the bass, and two manuals. In Japan, the electone is a popular instrument, and the YAMAHA company even set up music schools for it. For instance, many children start learning how to play the electone, for they can understand a variety of instruments in a short time by using their hands and feet. Also, some people want to be a one-man band for pleasure, so it becomes the perfect solo instrument.

In conclusion, three popular kinds of electronic keyboards are the digital piano, the synthesizer, and the electone. Classical musicians still prefer pianos to electronic keyboards because they think that the real piano represents tradition. For the younger generation, they can freely select many kinds of keyboards to study and perform with. Buy a electronic keyboard for yourself, and you will have a lot of fun.
